Senior Apartment / Independent Living - Senior independent living communities are available for the independent senior who is generally independent with most of their daily living activities. Independent living community services vary, however most offer restaurant-style meals, housekeeping, laundry service, beauty shop, activities, and planned outings. You will be able to tailor the services to fit your needs. Many of the facilities offer more resources if additional care is needed in the future.
Assisted Living / Senior Living with Assistance – A senior community living atmosphere that provides long term care or care when recovering from an illness before returning home. Offering services to assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, medication management, and senior activities. Everyone’s needs will vary. Therefore, the facility will evaluate the client’s needs and discuss a plan of care.
Home Care / Care in your home – With Home Care, a physician order is needed for a visiting nurse or other medical professional service in the home. Usually, this is covered by the senior’s medical insurance plan. Home care services are usually paid for by the senior’s medical insurance company and is temporary.
Care in your home offers services that assist with activities of daily living in the senior’s home are usually paid for by the senior. Services offered are basic cleaning, laundry, meal prep, bathing assistance, transportation, etc. Assistance with general daily living activities are privately paid for as they are usually not covered by the senior’s medical insurance.
Residential Care Homes – Private homes located in most communities; they offer 24/7 care to generally 4-6 residents. The care is tailored to the client’s needs. Home-like atmosphere, home cooked meals, medication management and laundry services are some of the provided services. Periodic physician and nursing services may be added which is generally covered by the client’s medical plan if ordered by the client’s physician
Alzheimer’s / Memory care – For those with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or other forms of degenerative dementia, a 24/7 supervised specialty unit offering a higher level of support than what is offered in an assisted living facility. The living area is secure and provides a safe environment. The residents are generally healthy aside from dementia and can no longer live safely in their own home.
Respite Care – This type of care provides short-term relief for the primary care giver. Privately paid care persons will assist the senior in their home or a temporary placement can be arranged.
Nursing Homes – This type of care is offered in a facility where there are medical professionals to manage all care needs. Usually, insurance plans will help cover a temporary stay after an inpatient hospitalization and criteria is met. The facility offers physicians, nurses, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to rehabilitate. Social work services are offered to assist with the transition back home, or to the next level of care.
Hospice / Palliative Care – Depending on the client and family needs, there are a few options for care. Services can be offered through a free-standing hospice facility, nursing home with added hospice care services, residential care home with added hospice services or through a hospice home care agency. Generally, the client’s medical insurance will only cover the hospice service, there may be additional costs when staying at a facility. We will be glad to further educate you on this if needed.
